To the eye, cherry red, pillory with ruby borders.
On the nose, show aromas of macerated fruit, compote, eucalyptus and menthol.
In the mouth, a subtle attack gives way to a mouth with opulence without being aggressive. End of mouth based on the great aromatic persistence and like in its baroque nose.
Predominantly Tempranillo with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Carmenere, Albillo. There is no register for which was the first harvest produced under the name ‘Vega Sicilia’, formerly known as ‘Eloy Lecanda’.

Bright ruby. Smoky, floral-accented aromas of redcurrant, cherry pit and plum, with a peppery topnote. Sweet and open-knit, offering musky red fruit and floral pastille flavors and notes of mocha and succulent herbs. Shows very good depth and power for the vintage, finishing smooth, sweet and long. Not the greatest Vega by any means but highly successful for 2002, and you can actually enjoy it right now.

92/100 (September 2012)
Very bright and red colours, strong taste of wild berries, strawberries, red currant, cherry, plum, pepper, spice, floral rose like smell with herbs, coffee, and beautiful freshness to end together with a hint of dark chocolate. For such an average Vintage Vega Sicilia have really created a lovely wine to drink now and over the next few years while the other maybe more famous vintages rest in your cellar.
One must give the Unico at least 20/30 minutes to breathe to be able to enjoy the full flavours that this beautiful Wine offers you. Paired exquisitely with Truffle Ravioli starter followed by Duck Risotto as main course. Dessert paired with strawberry pie and vanilla ice cream pairing quite beautifully.
