Sometimes you just can’t get too much of a good thing! After all, what could be better than a bottle of the Krug Collection 1990 vintage Champagne?

The answer is, of course, a big bottle of the exquisite wine, or in this case a magnum of the famous vintage. You will have to search far and wide to source a magnum of the Krug Collection 1990 – but VIP Wine Services has an extremely rare example in stock, and ready to ship today.

This was released as part of the House of Krug’s unique trilogy of three exceptional years. While the 1988, 1989 and 1990 vintages each have their own very special characteristics, they share certain attributes. First and foremost is the supreme quality of the product, followed by guaranteed exclusivity. Each bottle is individually numbered, certified and guaranteed by Oliver Krug himself, who is Director of the House.

In this particular case VIP Wine Services also offers its guarantee that the Magnum of Krug Collection 1990 we have for sale has full provenance and has been carefully stored in optimum conditions within our climate-controlled cellar.
1990 enjoyed perfect weather conditions for Champagne houses. A very mild winter was followed by sharp frosts in early April and a spell of lighter frosts later in the month. A hot and sunny summer ripened the grapes to perfection.

Perfect food and wine pairing

The master wine makers at Krug carefully selected a mix of Pinot Noir (40%), Chardonnays (37%) and Meunier (23%) grapes to achieve the perfect balance in tune with that year’s conditions.
Krug Collection 1990 is the perfect accompaniment to a risotto with morel mushrooms, duck with caramelised turnips, or boudin blanc with truffles.

For dessert, it pairs beautifully with a tiramisu with gingerbread and bitter orange, cooked apples topped with toasted slivered almonds or simply some slices of aged Comté cheese.
